Our porch looks similar to what I've done in past years, but I added a couple of new things.
I'm showcasing my vintage white wicker table by adding magnolia, holly, and nandina clippings. And I added a pretty wooden lantern with some red satin ribbon attached to it to anchor the branches.
There's a story behind this table. In our old house in Nashville, we had an elderly lady that lived across the stree and she had this table and a pretty wicker armchair on her front porch. I would see it every time I went to the mailbox or outside at all.
When she moved to an assisted living facility I told her grandaughter, who I actually went to school with, that I'd love to buy those pretty wicker items if they ever wanted to sell them.
Well, they had a big estate sale and I got those two items plus some beautiful alabaster lamps that I now have in our master bedroom. And I always think of Ms. Betty when I see them. Her father was a doctor back in the 1920's and travelled all over the globe. She had some very nice things.
Back to the present, I wasn't sure what I was going to do for this year's porch decor and did all of this a bit impulsively. But I think it turned out pretty well.
Fortunately we have several bushes and trees in the yard that are perfect for clipping and using for Christmas decor. The wood lantern is from my shop, and I just added a bit of greenery, a battery operated candle, and a pretty satin ribbon.
Over near the center of the porch I have a vintage basketthat I found at a local sale. It stays here all year. I added a faux wreath with red berries for a holiday look.
The red plaid throw blanket is one I found a couple of years ago. I'm kind of addicted to plaid blankets at the holidays. You can see how I used them in several areas of our house this year here →Cozy Christmas Home Tour
A little church made from salvaged materials and a small stoneware tree add a bit of Christmas to the little accent table.
Next to the door I placed a small rustic Alpine Christmas tree in a vintage stoneware crock in my dad's old radio flyer wagon. This also stays on the porch all year but looks especially happy at Christmas.
The vintage snow shoes are a new addition to the porch this year. A friend of mine was selling some of her collections and I happily bought these from her.
I always have so much fun decorating this area and love seeing it each time I come home.
